5-Year Labour Warranty for Heat Pump Installation
Warranty Provider: EnergySmart Limited
Warranty Period: 5 years from the date of installation
Coverage:
EnergySmart Limited guarantees that the labour involved in the installation of your heat pump has been performed in compliance with relevant New Zealand standards and best practices. This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
For a period of 5 years from the date of installation, we warrant that all work carried out by our technicians will be free from defects in workmanship under normal use and service conditions.
Warranty Conditions:
- Scope of Coverage:
- The warranty covers defects in the labour associated with the installation of heat pump systems.
- Any labour required to rectify issues directly resulting from improper installation will be covered under this warranty.
- Exclusions:
- This warranty does not cover issues related to the heat pump unit itself (covered by the manufacturer's warranty) or any damage caused by misuse, neglect, or unauthorized modifications.
- Damage resulting from external factors such as electrical surges, weather conditions (including but not limited to flooding, storms, and earthquakes), or improper maintenance as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Normal wear and tear or cosmetic issues that do not affect the functionality of the heat pump.
- Voiding of Warranty:
- The warranty will be void if:
- The heat pump is serviced, repaired, or altered by anyone other than EnergySmart Limited, or a qualified technician authorized by us.
- The heat pump is used in a manner inconsistent with the manufacturer's recommendations.
- The warranty will be void if:
- Customer Responsibilities:
- Regular maintenance of the heat pump is essential to maintain this warranty. You must follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines, including regular cleaning and servicing.
- Any issues must be reported to EnergySmart Limited as soon as they are identified to avoid further damage.
- Claims Process:
- If a defect in installation labour is identified within the warranty period, please contact EnergySmart Limited immediately.
- We will assess the issue and arrange a technician to inspect and, if necessary, repair the installation at no cost to you if the issue is found to be covered by this warranty.
- If the issue is found not to be related to the installation, a service fee may apply.
- Transferability:
- This warranty is transferable to new property owners if the heat pump remains in the same location and is not altered or removed.
Compliance with New Zealand Standards:
This warranty covers installations compliant with all relevant New Zealand standards, including:
AS/NZS 3000 (Electrical Installations)- AS/NZS 3823 (Performance of Electrical Appliances – Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps)
- AS/NZS 5601 (Gas Installations)

5-Year Labour Warranty for Insulation Installation
Warranty Provider: EnergySmart Limited
Warranty Period: 5 years from the date of installation
Coverage:
EnergySmart Limited provides a 5-year labour warranty for the installation of insulation in compliance with all applicable New Zealand standards and regulations. This warranty ensures that all installation work will be free from defects in workmanship under normal use and service conditions for a period of 5 years from the installation date. This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Warranty Conditions:
- Scope of Coverage:
- This warranty covers defects in the labour associated with the installation of insulation materials.
- Any labour required to rectify issues resulting directly from improper installation will be covered under this warranty.
- Exclusions:
- This warranty does not cover defects or issues related to the insulation material itself (covered by the manufacturer's warranty).
- It excludes any damage or deterioration caused by:
- Water damage or moisture intrusion
- Pest infestations
- Fire, extreme weather conditions, or natural disasters
- Normal wear and tear
- Modifications or alterations to the property structure that impact the insulation performance
- Improper maintenance, neglect, or unauthorized repairs performed by third parties.
- Voiding of Warranty:
- The warranty will be void if:
- The insulation is removed, altered, or tampered with by someone other than EnergySmart Limited or a qualified Insulation Installer authorized by us.
- The insulation is exposed to conditions outside the manufacturer’s recommendations, such as extreme moisture or compression.
- There is a failure to follow building maintenance guidelines that result in damage to the insulation.
- The warranty will be void if:
- Customer Responsibilities:
- The customer must notify EnergySmart Limited of any problems or concerns with the insulation immediately after discovery.
- The customer is responsible for ensuring the property’s ventilation and moisture control systems are functioning properly to maintain the integrity of the insulation.
- Claims Process:
- If a defect in installation labour is identified within the warranty period, contact EnergySmart Limited at 0800 777 111 or customerservices@energysmart.co.nz. as soon as possible.
- We will arrange for an inspection of the insulation and, if the issue is determined to be caused by faulty installation, we will repair or replace the affected insulation at no cost to you.
- If the issue is not related to the installation, a service charge may apply.
- Transferability:
- This warranty is transferable to new property owners if the insulation remains in the same location and is not altered or removed.
Compliance with New Zealand Standards:
The insulation installation work covered by this warranty complies with all relevant New Zealand standards, including but not limited to:
- NZS 4246:2016 (Energy Efficiency – Installing Insulation in Residential Buildings)
- NZ Building Code, Clause H1 (Energy Efficiency)
- Any other applicable laws and regulations at the time of installation.
